English for academic purposes is course we designed to meet the needs of the students who would like to pursue college or university education. To enrich the course, its supplemented by offline learning materials. The course has all the features associated with acquiring a new language. To be admitted to this program, a student must have at least basic skills in reading and writing in English. Students are expected to spend 3-4 hours per day learning English.
Speaking and Listening

English speaking and listening is important for a student to succeed in a Canadian college or university. We have included English speaking and listening for academic purposes. Speaking refers to the art of expressing oneself to others in English.It is emphasized in this course .

In Canada and USA students carry out projects individually or in a group. Before students make an oral presentation of group projects members discuss among themselves. Every student needs to be able to speak fluently so that others can understand the oral presentations. In English for academic purposes you will practice speaking and listening every day to prepare you for post-secondary or secondary education.

listening involves paying attention to what someone such as your professor or instructor is saying in order to understand. It may also involve paying attention to sound from something such as a radio or television in order to hear and understand what is being said. It’s possible to listen without comprehension. Proper listening habits require comprehension.

Grammar

We focus on grammar and development of correct sentence structure right from the day you register for this course. In English for academic purposes, students learn to create simple sentences, as well as correct complex sentences. They learn the different types of sentences in various types of writing and the correct word order. Correct grammar is essential in writing essays, speaking, reading and comprehension. Students will do many practice questions in order to improve their grammar skills.
Writing

In English for academic purposes students will develop strong writing skills. We have included lessons in writing book summaries, short narratives, descriptions, discussions, personal letters, business letters and resumes. With English for academic purposes you will have a foundation to further your education.
Reading comprehension

In college or university you will be expected to read material of varying complexity. English for academic purposes includes reading comprehension to enable students to learn how to read carefully to meet this requirement. You will practice reading several class-textbooks as well as short passages in order to improve your skills

Graduation

Those who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate and a transcript showing all the grades obtained during the course. This course will typically be completed in 9-12 months if you commit 3-4 hours a day or 6 months if you do it full time. We do not recommend that you take less than 6 months as you will not be able to master all the concepts covered unless you already have advanced skills.

English for Academic Purposes

English for academic purposes was designed to meet the needs of the students without good command of the English Language to help them to pursue college or university education. While free government sponsored courses often referred to as English as second language are useful in building foundational background, they don’t provide adequate training for academic purposes. In this course students are introduced to important concepts in English communication gradually and systematically to advanced level. It is structured for fast improvement in English communication.

• Target Group: This course is designed for people with at least Basic English communication skills who wish to improve speaking writing, reading and comprehension for academic purposes . You qualify If you are able to search and find this course in the internet you meet our basic requirements
• Learning Level: Intermediate to advanced
• Total Length of Course: 610 hours
• Cost: $1300

Prerequisites
You must have at least Basic English communication skills to take this course as instructions are given in English. Contact us if you are not sure for an interview. You will also need a fast internet connection and a reliable computer.

Course Description
The course consists of 6 modules.

Module 1
This module consists of 11 topics; and each topic has a, Reading assignment, Grammar lesson, a Grammar quiz, and an Audio listening lesson. Grammar and audio listening are emphasized.

Module 2
This module consists of 11 topics, and each topic has slightly more advanced Reading assignments, Grammar lessons, Grammar quizzes, Idioms and some commonly misused words in English and different interesting day to day life Audio listening lessons.

Module 3
This module consists of 9 topics; and each topic has slightly more advanced courses than module 2. It covers has Reading assignments, vocabulary, Grammar lessons, a Grammar quizzes, Idioms and some more commonly misused words in English and different entertaining Audio listening lessons.

Module 4
This module consists of 9 topics; and each topic has more advanced lessons than module 3. It includes Reading assignments, Grammar lessons, a Grammar quizzes, Idioms and some commonly misused words in English and more entertaining Audio listening lessons.

Module 5:
This module consists of 9 topics: advanced grammar topics, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, book reading, and writing, writing and speaking. There is increased emphasis on writing and reading comprehension. There is less emphasis on speaking as in modules 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Module 6:
This module consists of 12 topics. Students will be engaged in more advanced grammar such as editing and correcting sentences and paragraphs. They will also cover more advanced reading comprehension topics, writing, remote oral presentations, book reading and book summaries.

Course Objectives
The purpose of this course is to help learners acquire the following skills among others:
• read and understand documents, books, newspaper articles and magazines
• write clear understandable essays and edit documents
• Argue or give a well thought out opinion on different topics
• construct grammatically correct sentences with proper punctuation
• understand idioms in spoken or written material
• write fluently for academic and business purposes
• Read and comprehend academic literature
• understand both native and non-native English speakers
• carry a conversation effectively with native and non-native English speakers

English for General Purposes is Instructor-led and delivered through our secure student friendly online Learning Management System.
